The biggest challenge of our project has been mastered: data collection on our diary study is complete. Nearly 200 students reflected on their learning and practice every day for 75 days. We would like to thank all participants!
5th December 2022
The first groups are completing Clinical Rotation I this week. While some students are now reflecting on their learning and practicing for the last days, the project team is already busy creating the concept for the individual feedback. At the beginning of February, each person will then receive their own learning profile based on their own assessments, supplemented by tips and tricks for their personal development.
2nd November 2022
There is a change in the team: at the end of October, Christopher Pfeiffer and Petra Bührle end their activities in the project. Both want to fully devote themselves to their studies again. Thank you very much for your commitment! At the same time, we welcome Ebun Smith; she is currently studying psychology at the University of Vienna and will accompany the diary study. We are happy to have you!
5th October 2022
The final groups started Clinical Rotation I this week. We wish you all the best!
We have now also taken a look: the vast majority of students have given their consent for us to use the reflection data for research. Many thanks to you! By doing so, you are enabling innovative approaches to analysis in the context of research on learning in medical education.
29th August 2022
The next groups will begin Clinical Rotation I. We wish you a good start!
Students in the first block have already spent five weeks reflecting on their learning and practicing. Thank you for the feedback on ambiguities and problems. We have adjusted the information and process.

This week it's time: the diary study within the Clinical Rotation I starts. During the winter semester, the participating students will rotate through the veterinary clinics of the vetmeduni and use the learning diary we developed for self-reflection. We are looking forward to this exciting semester.
18th May 2022
Let's get started: Over the next few weeks, we will be informing students and faculty about the importance of self-reflection and the associated diary study in Clinical Rotation I.

We proudly present: The questionnaire for learning in the practical clinical setting!
It covers the areas of cognition (cognitive and metacognitive learning strategies), motivation, emotion, and perception of the learning environment, as well as the monitoring and regulation of these four areas. We ask for several aspects. There is a version with four to five items per aspect and a single-item version. We are currently working on the publication.
We spent a year researching, conducting interviews, developing and testing items together with scientists and students, and finally tested a first version of the questionnaire. The efforts were worth it! We would like to thank the students, teachers and scientists for their support!
10th January 2022
The first year of our research project is behind us. We have analyzed theoretical models and existing questionnaires, conducted interviews, and developed and extensively tested a new questionnaire for self-regulated learning in the clinical-practical setting. Next year, we will devote ourselves to the question of how students' self-regulated learning changes in the practical clinical setting.
13th December 2021
Data collection is currently underway. Students use questionnaires to reflect on their own learning and receive an individual profile with tips and tricks for further development. We would like to thank the many students who provide us with data for research purposes.
4th October 2021
We are in the midst of developing a diary on the topic of "Self-regulated Learning of Students in the Practical Clinical Setting." We have formulated the items based on the results of the previous interviews. Now they are in expert review and we look forward to feedback from a variety of perspectives. Thank you very much to our experts!
