The open access agreement with the American Society for Microbiology enables Vetmeduni affiliated corresponding authors to publish open access articles at no cost in ASM Subscribe to Open journals.

- You are affiliated with Vetmeduni at the time the article is accepted for publication
- You list the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna as your affiliation in the article
- The article has been accepted for publication during the term of the agreement
- APC funding from alternative sources is not available – except the Austrian Science Fund (see below)
- The agreement only covers publication charges (APCs). Additional fees (such as page charges, supplemental fees, etc.) are not included
Use your Vetmeduni e-mail address (@vetmeduni.ac.at) when submitting an article to an eligible journal and provide further details of your affiliation with Vetmeduni during the submission process. Additionally, we recommend submitting the article within the university’s IP-range. This allows ASM to identify eligible Vetmeduni affiliated corresponding authors.
ASM will forward your article to the Vetmeduni Open Access Team for a final eligibility check. In case the Open Access Team approves the article, the Article Processing Charges (APC) will be completely covered by the agreement.
Please note:
In case ASM identifies you as eligible author, no further steps are required to publish the article under the conditions of this agreement.
Eligible articles published closed access during the term of this agreement can be converted to open access retrospectively – but only in case the publisher did not identify the corresponding author to be eligible for this agreement and the article is converted to open access in its publication year. This does not apply to publications resulting from FWF projects. Those must be made available in open access immediately upon publication!

Sage will forward your article to the Vetmeduni Open Access Team for a final eligibility check. In case the Open Access Team approves the article, the Article Processing Charges (APC) will either be completely covered by the agreement (Hybrid open access journals) or the 15% discount will be applied on the APC (Gold open access journals).
Please note:
The corresponding author must agree with processing the publication under the Open Access Agreement after the article was accepted for publication. Sage will inform the corresponding author about the options.

The transformative open access agreement with Wiley enables Vetmeduni affiliated corresponding authors to publish open access articles at no cost in Wiley Hybrid Open Access Journals and Gold Open Access Journals.

Further criteria:
- You are the "corresponding author" of the article
- Hybrid open access journals: You are affiliated with Vetmeduni at the time the article is accepted for publication. The article has been accepted for publication during the term of the agreement.
- Gold open access journals: You are affiliated with Vetmeduni at the time the article is submitted for publication. The article has been submitted for publication during the term of the agreement.
- You list the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna as your affiliation in the article
- APC funding from alternative sources is not available – except the Austrian Science Fund (see below)
- The agreement only covers publication charges (APCs). Additional fees (such as page charges, supplemental fees, etc.) are not included.
Use your Vetmeduni e-mail address (@vetmeduni.ac.at) when submitting an article to an eligible journal and provide further details of your affiliation with Vetmeduni during the submission process. Additionally, we recommend submitting the article within the university’s IP-range. This allows Wiley to identify eligible Vetmeduni affiliated corresponding authors.
Wiley will forward your article to the Vetmeduni Open Access Team for a final eligibility check. In case the Open Access Team approves the article, the Article Processing Charges (APC) will be completely covered by the agreement.

Hybrid open access journals: The corresponding author must agree with processing the publication under the open access agreement, after the article was accepted for publication.
