We deal with innovative detection methods and global aspects of food safety, as well as the ecology and adaptation of food-associated microorganisms.

Research

Our research focuses on virulence mechanisms of zoonotic pathogens, as well as on microbiome and microbial genome analysis along the food production chain.

Teaching

We train undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary medicine students. The focus is on the safety of milk and dairy products, but also on the safety of plant-based foods.

Diagnostic

We process food samples for the detection of listeria and other pathogenic germs and use microbiological and molecular biological methods in accordance with ISO standards for the analysis.
