Our three principal research groups all share the services provided by our laboratory facilities and in-house technical expertise. The chemistry unit analyses samples within ecophysiology projects (for example diet and feces composition in projects of energetics and seasonality in brown hare and red deer, membrane fatty acid composition in a variety of species), and also works on ecotoxicological and eco-pathological questions (for example in ruminants, hares, or birds of prey) within the applied ecology and conservation medicine program. Our electronics experts develop new solutions for biotelemetry of physiological parameters (heart rate, body temperature) within ecophysiology projects, and for monitoring space use and habitat selection in applied ecology and conservation medicine projects. In-house expertise on advanced statistical methods, modelling and computer programming also feeds into all three FIWI programs.
