Did you know that the United Nations has declared 2024 the International Year of the Camelid? The reason for this is that wild camels are threatened with extinction and are on the red list in China and Mongolia. Wild camels are important for sustainable food security, functioning ecosystems and addressing the effects of the climate crisis.

In order to counteract this development, a team of scientists from our Research Institute for Wildlife and Ecology, led by veterinarian Pamela Burger, is committed to researching and preserving the species of wild camels. For example, tests are being developed for genetic monitoring of wild camels. In order to ensure the long-term and sustainable survival of the last wild camels, we are researching the genetic makeup of these endangered animals and their ability to adapt to extreme environmental conditions and pathogens. We also need your support for this! No matter how big or small your donation is, it makes a difference and helps our researchers achieve their goal: the conservation of wild camels. Thank you for your support and your trust in our work for people and animals!
