Research

Our research mainly focuses on the characterisation of immune responses in farm and companion animals. In that context, we are interested to identify the involved immune cells by means of their phenotypic and functional properties. Therefore, we make use of various molecular, biochemical, cell biological and immunological methods.

These methods comprise:

DNA/ RNA analyses, PCR, cloning and sequencing of genes of interest, various pro –and eukaryotic expression systems, CDR3 spectratyping, analyses of proteins with immunpräcipitation and Western Blot, two-dimensional gelelectrophoresis, hybridoma techniques for generating monoclonal antibodies, fluorochrome conjugation of antibodies, flow cytometry, fluorescence assisted cell sorting, lymphocyte cultures, lymphocyte clonality analyses, cell proliferation and cytotoxicity assays, ELISA and ELISPOT analyses.
